Chris Cohen (USA)

Australian Exclusive

Indie songwriting royalty Chris Cohen brings his acclaimed and uncompromising work to Melbourne as part of FOJAM.

Cohen was formerly a member of the experimental noise outfit Deerhoof, but it was with his solo records that he earned a fan in indie hero Mac Demarco, found a collaborator in Cass McCombs and performed with Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti.

Cohen’s first two records serve as companion pieces, but he changed course swiftly for his 2019 self-titled LP. A deeply personal record, it charts the effects of truths being revealed within his own family and reflects on the freedom that comes from multi-generational secrets being laid bare, stripped of shame and guilt.

Sink into his story and be enveloped by his thoughtful and brave new direction.
