Artists

HARRY JAMES ANGUS

Harry James Angus the firebrand trumpet-playing vocalist from the hugely successful band The Cat Empire, is known both for his thrilling live performances and for his constant musical re-invention.

His new work takes the raw intensity, chaos and exploratory power that has helped make The Cat Empire such an incandescent live experience, but redirects it towards a darker, more weirdly beautiful universe. A universe inspired by artists like Nina Simone, Van Morrison, Antony & The Johnsons and John Coltrane.

EMILY LUBITZ [TINPAN ORANGE]

“Emily's exquisite, brushed-velvet vocal conjures a steady neck-hair raising waltz” - The Age

“What is it about Lubitz’s voice that makes it so incredibly captivating? Her timbre is otherworldly; hopeful and vulnerable, yet potent.” – Beat Magazine

Very few artists can cradle your heart in their hands while they kick your ass, but after more than a decade touring with critically acclaimed indie-folk darlings Tinpan Orange, Emily Lubitz is striding out on her own.

Lubitz’s 2022 dedut EP ‘Begin Again’ reveals a darkly romantic vision, a thick velvet curtain that backdrops the live experience of a six-foot tall Edith Piaf stalking through the rocks of Laurel Canyon, with her East Brunswick band in tow.

FREEDS

Freeds sound blurs the lines to create a breezy and introspective style of indie-pop.  Originally hailing from Sydney and growing up in a Jewish household to a single mother,

Freeds began writing songs in his youth, influenced by his love for rapping and storytelling.  His songs talk about mental health struggles with an undertone of optimism. “I’m all about contrast and balance in music, my aim is always to make something that’s relatable but still left-field enough to be unique and representative of me.”

Not Finished Yet the album that came out in 2021 was the first full glimpse of Freeds’ sunny blend of lo-fi pop and the first single Fruit Bats has since amassed over a million streams on Spotify and received spot plays on Triple J. Freeds has released a handful of singles from his upcoming EP, Still Not Finished Yet.  His ‘grandpa’ persona goes hand in hand with a colourful aesthetic and light-hearted nature.
